Community Rules
Effective June 2026. These rules apply to everyone who uses Ontryst and exist alongside our Terms of Service and our Child Safety Standards.
The short version
Ontryst is built for people who want real connection. These rules exist so the people you meet here can trust you, and so you can trust them.
- Be 18 or older. Ontryst is for adults.
- Be real: real name basis, real age, real photos of you.
- Be respectful. Consent matters in chat too.
- Do not solicit money, sell anything, or run a business from your profile.
- No nudity, no minors in photos, no weapons, no violence, no hate.
- If something feels wrong, use the Report button. We read every report.
The rest of this page goes through each rule in detail and explains what happens when they are broken.
1. Be 18 or older
Ontryst is for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, regardless of the age of majority in your country. We do not knowingly permit minors on the platform and we remove accounts immediately when we have reason to believe the user is underage. Our full position on child safety is in our Child Safety Standards.
Pretending to be a minor, roleplaying as a minor, or sexualising a minor in any way is a permanent, no-appeal ban and may be reported to the relevant authorities.
2. Be real
Authenticity is the most important rule on Ontryst. People are making decisions based on what you tell them — sometimes decisions about whether to meet you in person — so be honest.
- Your profile must represent you, the actual human using the account.
- Your photos must be recent photos of you. No celebrity photos, no stock images, no AI-generated faces, no “a friend took it of me ten years ago”.
- Your age, gender, and relationship intentions on your profile must be true.
- One person, one account. Do not create or operate multiple accounts.
- Do not impersonate another person or claim affiliations (companies, celebrities, public figures) that you do not have.
3. Be respectful
Treat the people you meet on Ontryst the way you would want to be treated. Disagreement is fine; cruelty is not.
The following are not allowed:
- Harassment, intimidation, stalking, or repeated unwanted contact after someone has stopped responding or unmatched.
- Hate speech or content that attacks people because of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any protected characteristic.
- Slurs, threats, doxxing (sharing someone's private information), or incitement of violence against anyone.
- Bullying, body shaming, or content designed to humiliate another user, on or off the platform.
4. Consent matters
Consent applies in chat the same way it applies in person. “No” means no, silence is not consent, and changing your mind is always allowed.
- Do not send sexual photos, videos, voice notes, or messages without the other person clearly agreeing to receive them.
- Do not pressure, guilt, threaten, or bargain with anyone for photos, contact information, money, or meetings.
- Sharing or threatening to share another user's intimate images (revenge porn / sextortion) is one of the most serious violations on Ontryst and will result in an immediate permanent ban and, where applicable, a report to law enforcement.
- Do not record or screenshot private calls or messages and share them outside the platform without consent.
5. Photos and profile content
Your profile is the first thing other users see. It needs to give them an honest, safe impression of who you are.
- At least one clear photo of your face is required. No masks, no heavy obscuring filters on your primary photo.
- No nudity, no sexually explicit content, no underwear-only shots, no content designed primarily as sexual content. Ontryst is not an adult platform.
- No photos of minors, even your own children, family members, or children you know. Keep them out of your dating profile.
- No firearms, no other weapons, no images of violence, no images glorifying drugs.
- No third-party trademarks, brands, or content used without permission, and no copyrighted photos that are not yours.
- Your bio must not contain phone numbers, email addresses, external links, or contact handles inviting users off the platform on first contact.
6. No solicitation, no scams, no spam
Ontryst is a dating service, not a marketplace.
- Do not request or promise money, gifts, cryptocurrency, financial support, or any other transfer of value as a condition of the relationship.
- No sex work, escort services, or commercial sexual services. This rule applies regardless of whether such activity is legal in your country.
- No promotion of your business, brand, OnlyFans, Patreon, MLM, token sale, crypto project, or any other commercial venture from your profile or in chats.
- No phishing, no fake investment opportunities, no romance scams, no requests to move the conversation to another app under suspicious pretexts.
- No automated activity, bots, or scripted messages.
If a user asks you for money or tries to lead you off-platform quickly, please report them. We act fast on these reports because they protect other users.
7. Respect privacy
What happens on Ontryst stays between you and the person you are talking to.
- Do not share another user's personal information (real name, workplace, home address, phone number, social media) without their explicit consent.
- Do not post screenshots or recordings of Ontryst profiles, chats, or calls on other platforms.
- Do not use information learned on Ontryst to harass, embarrass, or threaten the other person anywhere else.
- Treat anything shared in confidence as confidential, especially sensitive details about health, identity, immigration status, family, or finances.
8. Safety beyond the app
We do everything we reasonably can to keep Ontrysta safe place to meet people. We are not, however, in a position to verify every claim a user makes about themselves, run criminal background checks, or guarantee anyone's offline behaviour.
When you decide to meet someone in person:
- Meet first in a public place during daylight hours.
- Tell a friend or family member where you are going and who you are meeting.
- Arrange your own transport so you can leave when you want.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off, leave and report the user.
- Never send money, share financial information, or share login codes with someone you have only met on Ontryst.
If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first, then report the user to us afterwards.
9. Illegal content and conduct
Any conduct that is illegal under the laws applicable to you or to Nevolut S.A.R.L.U. is prohibited on Ontryst. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in any form, covered in full by our Child Safety Standards.
- Human trafficking, forced labour, or modern slavery.
- The sale or promotion of illegal drugs, weapons, or stolen goods.
- Terrorism, organised violence, or incitement to violence.
- Distribution of malware, phishing, hacking tools, or instructions for committing crimes.
We cooperate fully with lawful requests from law enforcement and child-protection authorities.
10. How reporting works
You can report any profile, message, or piece of content directly inside Ontrystusing the “Report” option available on every profile and conversation. You may also email support@ontryst.com with details and, where possible, screenshots.
What happens after you report:
- Your report is reviewed by our Trust & Safety team. We use automated tools to triage and prioritise, but human reviewers make moderation decisions.
- Reports involving child safety, threats of violence, or sextortion are escalated immediately.
- Reports are confidential. We do not tell the reported user who reported them.
- You will not always receive a detailed reply about the outcome for privacy reasons, but you can trust that we acted.
- Knowingly false reports are themselves a violation of these rules.
11. What happens when rules are broken
Our response is proportionate to the seriousness of the violation, whether it has happened before, and the risk to other users.
- Warning. For minor first-time breaches we may remove the content and send a warning.
- Content removal. Photos, bios, or messages that break these rules are removed or hidden.
- Feature limits. We may temporarily restrict messaging, matching, photo uploads, or other features.
- Account suspension. For repeated or serious violations, your account may be suspended for a fixed period or indefinitely.
- Permanent ban.For the most serious violations — CSAE, sextortion, fraud, threats, hate speech, repeated harassment — your account is permanently closed and may be prevented from re-registering on the same device or with the same identifiers.
- Report to authorities. For unlawful conduct we may also report you to the appropriate authorities.
For serious or urgent risks to other users, we may act first and explain by email afterwards.
12. Appeals
If your account has been restricted or banned and you believe it was a mistake, you can appeal once by emailing support@ontryst.com with the email associated with your Ontryst account and an explanation. A different member of the team will review the decision.
Decisions made under our Child Safety Standards, or in response to credible threats of violence, are final and not subject to appeal.
13. Updates to these rules
Ontryst evolves, and so do the threats users face online. We review these Community Rules regularly and update them as needed. For material changes we will notify you through the Service or by email at least thirty (30) days before the changes take effect. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
